Atlas Pots is a family-owned business based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, specializing in contemporary garden planters and artificial greenery. Maninder and Tarie Tennessey established Atlas Pots in 2006, with the sole focus of bringing stylish outdoor, frost-proof planters to Vancouver – Today, they design and retail commercial-grade fiberglass planters, artificial hedges, shrubs, and green walls. Their offerings are designed for both indoor and outdoor spaces, catering to homeowners, designers, landscapers, and developers. Atlas Pots operates both a physical store and an online platform, providing shipping services across the Greater Vancouver area as well as Vancouver Island and the BC Interior. Their commitment to quality and design has made them a notable name in the garden and landscape supply industry.
In late 2024, Atlas Pots approached 14 Oranges looking for some expertise in transitioning their website into an e-commerce website as well as look to improve their SEO. Atlas Pots had recently completed the Canada Digital Adoption Program with a local marketing company and received a report of recommendations consisting of 284 pages! Needless to say, Atlas Pots were a bit overwhelmed by the report and were looking for a more sensible and gradual development approach rather than a complete overhaul of their website.
The team at 14 Oranges met with key stakeholders at Atlas Pots and developed a simpler and more budget friendly development plan to improve the usability of the website and transition their WordPress website into an e-commerce engine.
At the start of the project, our usability specialist reviewed the various use cases and goals for the website as well as identified the target audience and then prepared a variety of design options for the website.
At the same time, the development team looked at their e-commerce requirements and their atypical buying and shipping workflow and developed a solution based on WooCommerce where orders are initially sent to Atlas Pots for review. Once an Atlas Pots expert has reviewed their order, the shipping costs are calculated and the total order is sent back to the customer for final approval and payment. Furthermore, the e-commerce engine has been customized to handle special orders.
Once a design was approved, the site was implemented using a development environment where Atlas Pots could monitor progress and provide feedback as needed. Development was completed in about 1 month. The website was launched in February 2025 and has been well received by Atlas Pots customers.

14 Oranges has continued to work with Atlas Pots to maintain the site and make modifications as required.
