Our second part to our post highlighting the team’s favourite apps. If you haven’t read part 1 yet, you can view it here.

Curtis – SORA

Curtis introduced SORA, an app from OpenAI, the creators behind ChatGPT. SORA lets you create AI generated videos and also view videos created by other users. You can create videos from scratch or upload your own content and get them generated based on your prompts. The app is very similar to Tiktok/Instagram where you have a feed with videos created by people you follow and also videos suggested by the algorithm.

Keejung – Catch Corner

Keejung Park introduced Catch Corner, an app by Sports Illustrated that facilitates booking local sports facilities such as badminton courts and ice rinks. The app lists facilities, shows pricing, and allows in-app checkout. There is no service fee for users when making bookings. Keejung noted that the app appears to currently be more widely used in Toronto and New York but there are some facilities in Vancouver and the list is constantly growing.

Yvonne – Genius Scan

Yvonne Leonard presented Genius Scan, a simple, free app for scanning multiple pages into a PDF document, which her family found particularly useful during remote schooling. You just use the app to scan any documents and the app automatically detects the text, background and turns into a PDF document (single or multi pages). The app also lets you store the documents into folders for future use.

Stay tuned for Part 3 coming next month!
